Kingston Black 2022 by Temple

Kingston Black by temple is a dry, naturally sparking cider made in Dorset with 100% Kingston Black apples. It’s a zesty and refreshing cider that conceals very well a medium high alcohol ABV. Despite the lightness given by the bubbles and the gentle acidity, it’s a full body cider, perfect to be paired with a savoury dish.

Tasting Notes

  • See: Hazy golden in colour, rich with amber elements; it looks gently bubbly with a nice residual foam around the edge
  • Smell: Delicately citrusy to the nose, freshly squeezed orange
  • Taste: Gently bubbly to the palate, refreshing and zesty; it has a medium finish with mineral notes; medium tannins and full body

Notes from the producers

Only handpicked, I sprayed Kingston Black apples, fermented with wild yeasts. Naturally sparkling. Unpasteurised and unfiltered full-juice cider. No added sulphite and sweetener. Gluten-free and vegan. Kingston black is a traditional bittersharp cider apple. This vintage of the apple has created a fruity, zingy cider with soft tannic finish.

Personal Notes on Kingston Black cider

Like all of temple full-juice single variety cider made by Temple, Kingston Black is a bold cider with a naturally juicy finish. Thanks to the wild yeast fermentation, the nose of this cider feels fun and unpolished, with a mouth watering intensity, that I find wonderful.

Food pairing

Kingston Black single variety has enough tannins to pair very well with salty aged cheeses, or fatty fish with rich sauces such as a creamy salmon mousse.
